Aerometrex's Award-Winning Innovation in Geospatial Solutions

Aerometrex has a longstanding commitment to pushing the limits of innovation in the geospatial industry. Our recent award-winning solution, MetroMap Insights, leverages high-resolution aerial imagery, cloud computing, and machine learning to provide accurate tree canopy information across most of the populated areas in Australia.

Tree canopy data plays a crucial role in our urban environments, offering ecological benefits such as air purification, temperature regulation, and wildlife habitats. However, rapid urbanisation poses a significant threat to tree canopy cover.

Our solution addresses this challenge by enabling urban planners, governmental and non-governmental organisations, and environmental conservation groups to access precise spatial data. This data empowers organisations to make informed decisions that minimise tree loss, maximise green spaces, and monitor changes in tree canopy cover over time helping to improve sustainable urban development.

Our Technological Edge in Geospatial Analytics

MetroMap Insights is powered by:

  • High-Resolution Aerial Imagery: Captured using state-of-the-art camera systems.
  • Computer Vision: Utilising deep learning algorithms trained on extensive, labelled datasets.
  • Cloud Computing: Leveraging AWS (Amazon Web Services) to handle large datasets efficiently and process data quickly.

By integrating these technologies, we can provide robust and accurate tree canopy data that complements traditional field survey methods. Our extensive archive of high-resolution aerial imagery, spanning over 20 years, allows us to offer unparalleled historical and recent data coverage.

Impact and Future Vision for Sustainable Urban Development

MetroMap aims to make a meaningful impact by providing stakeholders with valuable data insights. Urban planners can easily incorporate green spaces into their projects, cities can monitor tree canopy trends and implement effective mitigation strategies, and environmental organisations can prioritise key conservation areas and advocate for green policies using robust data-driven evidence. This approach to sustainable urban development ensures that our geospatial solutions support environmental conservation and smarter urban planning.

Our commitment to accurate spatial data that is commercially accessible to a diverse range of customers provides the tools necessary to create resilient and environmentally friendly cities.
